CKI - The Company
Corporate Knowledge, Inc., is a consulting firm that has evolved greatly from its beginnings in 1983. Originally Kathy Stanford Jones, a programmer and analyst, performed major project implementations. She observed that in most cases, the end users of an implemented system often did not use the system to its full capacity, and did not use the documentation supplied for the system. There were multiple causes for this - either the documentation did not match the final system, the documentation was not user-friendly, or in general the end users just did not "get with the program."
We have performed 75 - 100 implementations in the past 18 years. We do know this area very well. But over the years, CKI began examining what was missing in user documentation, and what needed to change to allow its clients to more fully utilize their systems, which of course included having trained and competent end users. Without abandoning the original CKI emphasis of IT systems, CKI expanded its sphere of influence to include effective ways to train and create usable documentation.
So now, in addition to our original systems implementation emphasis, we handle all shapes and sizes of documentation and training. We organize, research and extract your "corporate knowledge." We can convert it from older applications, or from paper. We can add processes, procedures, flows or any type of graphic needed to make the information simple, useful and clearly understood. We can produce training materials and also deliver your user training, whether your end user is an internal or external customer. And we can migrate your information to everyone who needs it.
We have found that as computer technology has advanced, many new tools have become available to accelerate the data mining and documentation process, such as WinHelp and ACquire. CKI believes that workable solutions are not required to be expensive, but instead that many tools can be introduced to our clients to keep them on the cutting edge.
We take "off the shelf" applications and manipulate them to maximize their effectiveness for our clients, rather than taking the approach of other systems developers who may deliver what become legacy systems in much too short a time. For example, we have produced many online help applications that allow a company to deliver its current news, sales campaign information as well as its policy and procedure to each user's desktop, with little to no impact to the network. Not only can this information be quickly updated, but the third-party applications we use do not require major end user license expenditures. This is just one more way we give our clients "more bang for their buck."
CKI has a multi-talented team that is proficient in many systems and applications. We have both business and information technology experience; we are troubleshooters and diagnosticians as well. We provide consultants to your company who are experienced in the same types of industries and settings as your own.
